We Got Spirit

The Varsity football team kicks off the season this Friday at home against Geneva and some may be asking, what are the plans for this year’s spirit section? We’re hoping to make this year fun and exciting for everyone involved. All of this year’s themes are planned out, some new and some old, and I hope everyone is ready for a great season.
Many people have come out to show support for both the boys and girls soccer teams these past few weeks and we’re hoping to see that school spirit continue to shine throughout this school year. Mr. Whaley will also be helping us tailgate on the Middle Ridge side of the school in the roundabout at some of the home games while it’s still warm outside. Bringing snacks, drinks, games, paint, etc to the tailgates is always appreciated. If anyone has questions feel free to DM the student section twitter account, @MadtownSection. That account posts updates daily about themes, tailgates, and upcoming events and games for all sports. If you’re involved in a sport and want something posted you can also DM the account.
We want to make sure that all teams are being supported this year. As for this Friday’s game, the theme is a black out and we will be tailgating and painting up before the game at 5:30. Come out and support the boys this Friday, the game starts at 7 and we’re hoping to have a big crowd of supporters as we take on the Eagles.

Boys Cross Country Takes 3rd at Berkshire Early Bird Invite

On Saturday August 24th the Madison boys Cross Country team took 3rd overall out of 15 at the Berkshire Early Bird invite. The team was lead by senior Brandon Rockwood, junior Brian Chaffee and junior Dillon Miller in a pack for the majority of the race. Towards the end, Dillon Miller sped up and came in first place followed by teammate Brian Chaffe who came in second, and Brandon Rockwood who came in 3rd.
The three boys were all within ten seconds of each other as they finished the race. The boys explain how they feel pretty good going into their next race at Kenston because they run the course twice a year so they are pretty familiar with it, and they are ready fast or their next meet this coming Saturday. They state how they had an excellent last race and how they are doing the best they ever have as a team.
One of the boys says how “the only downfall I can really think of is not pushing as a pack, which is the best thing you can do in cross country.” He says they realized their mistake and quickly accelerated towards the end of the race. He also stated how he thinks that they need to work on finishing the races by sprinting the last stretch and pass as many people as possible for the points that add up quickly.
Brandon stated, “ At the previous meet I felt like I definitely could have pushed harder than I did and I kind of let myself down, but mistakes happen and it’s only just the beginning of the season. The race itself was not hard due to how flat the course was and how nice the weather was. I enjoyed it personally because racing is when you can show all the hard work you put in over the summer and previous months.” Be sure to wish your Madison Boys Cross Country team the best of luck as they take on Kenston’s course this coming Saturday.

Today's sacrifice, Tomorrow's Success

This Wednesday, Madison girls volleyball took on Mayfield girls volleyball. Mayfield Jv started off really strong with some hard serves and started with a lead against Madison Jv. Madison tried with their best efforts to get back up against the wildcats with some good hits towards the end of match one. However couldn’t quite pull it off . They took defeat in match one but are hoping to pull off a victory in match two. The two teams started off neck and neck . Mayfield had some really good serves but Kearsten Woleben was always there to come back with a strong hit. With really good sets from Aliyah Krimmel and a strong hit from Kearsten, you can always count on a point for the Madison lady’s. However, the Mayfield lady’s JV started to pull away with a lead at the end of match two coming out with their second victory . Ending the game for the Madison JV lady’s in a loss. They hope to start picking up momentum in their season after some tough losses this week. The girls will need all the support that they can get as they have upcoming games against Riverside, North, and Kenstom . So get as many people as you can to come out to some games this season and watch the girls play some hard matches.
