On Tuesday, December 4th the Varsity boys basketball had their home opener against Geneva. Last year Geneva took the win, this year they played for revenge.
After a good game of hustle and great defense Madison took the win this time with a score of 76-64.This starting off their season with the first win making the record 1-0. This game gave them confidence and momentum going into their game coming up on Thursday against Kenston and the rest of their basketball season this year.
Some top performers of this game were Senior Ron Hartman and Juniors Ryan Bowers and Chris Blauman. Ron led his team with 28 points on the scoreboard, and shooting five 3 pointers, Chris added 21 points to the game and had six assists, Ryan had 14 points with four 3 pointers and seven rebounds. Overall during this game the boys had great defense, and that prevented them from getting the score down and losing.
Assistant coach, Coach Titman, said, “It was a hard fought basketball game, last year Geneva beat us with intensity and hustle, this year we were able to match that and knock down shots. The student section made an impact on the game, I hope to have that all year”. The fans had a made a huge difference on this game when they could always count on the crowd for the spirit section. The fans are always excited to watch the boys play a great game and are also pumped to watch how the boys play this season.
