August 25th

BY: Isabel Gnagy

August 25th, at 7 pm, the very first home game of the 2017 football season for the Madison High School Blue Streaks takes place. The game is against the Geneva Eagles. The teams have a history with one another and the only term that can describe it is “bad blood” as said by tight end, Cameron Luster. Last year the Geneva Eagles beat Madison with a close game, 16-15.

This year, we have Coach Willis for the Madison Blue Streaks and Coach Sorber for the Geneva Eagles. This year, all the Blue Streak players feel that they will win this first home game against Geneva.

Even Michael Woody, a JV running back, says “We’ve put in our grind for awhile and compared to us, they aren’t ready”. The boys have been working hard since this January to become prepared for the 2017 season. All 36 players of the varsity lineup are pumped and ready to defeat Geneva. This Friday, we will  strike down those Eagles from their ranks.

When asked how he thinks the season will go, Principal Fisher replied, “10 and 0”. The whole team, coaches, student body, and staff believe that this season will be one of the best yet. Blue and white against red and grey. Last year Madison’s record was officially 5-5-0. This year we’re trying for 10-0-0.

The energy in the air shows that Madison is hopeful to win not only this upcoming game against the eagles but also all games to come this season. This all seems possibly seeing that Geneva’s score was 2-8-0. The 2017 season seems to be much more possible with all the players on the team. Their spirit and focus is hair raising and for our opponents, horrifying. With the band and the student body’s encouragement the Blue Streaks can lead the way to a big win this Friday, August 25th at 7 pm.
