Crossing Berkshire

BY: Toni Burr

The  Madison Cross Country team of 2017 is going to Berkshire for a meet on Saturday, August, 26 2017 with their coach, Coach Jeremy Verdi. This is the first time the Cross Country team is going to Berkshire to compete. This meet is also the Cross Country's team first official meet of the season of 2017.

The key to victory for this meet is training your top seven runners to run as far and close to each other as possible so they can all get a very close score. The team expects to come out as second or third because they have been working very hard for this meet. The fans of Madison Cross Country think the team will do great at their first meet to Berkshire and believe they will win.

One of the team's leaders, Nick Amos, Senior, is the top Varsity runner on the team. Others on the team model themselves after him. Nick got 1st place in his team at "War on the Shore". Owen Hennessey, Junior, is also a team leader. Owen is a very fast and steady runner on his team. His season has gone great this year, he got first at the lake farm park meet. Although he did not do as good at "War on the Shore", coming in third place, he expects to bounce back for the meet this Saturday at Berkshire. Owen also focuses heavily on school, his choir programs, and band. He has gotten a 94% on his AP History test, making it the highest in his class.
