The Six Foot Putt

Mina Gephart of the 2018 Girls golf team is a 4 year varsity player who played her heart out at the yearly sectionals meet on October 1st 2018. Gephart shot a 18 hole round of a 93, shooting a 45 on the front and a 48 on the back 9. She tied with 3 other girls to qualify for districts and went into a play off hole. She lined up her 6 foot putt and sunk the shot. She did this twice and sunk both the 6 foot putts. On the last of the 3 playoff holes she shot a drive that went right into a bunker with a nice lip on it. She shot her shot made it on the green and sank the putt making her win the playoff and qualify for districts. “My heart was pounding and I just started crying,” said Mina. Mina is also the 1st Madison girls golfer to qualify for districts.

     Over the season Gephart and her team were WRC champs of the league holding an undefeated record. The team also took 3rd place in the WRC conference meet held at Erie Shores Golf Course. Mina gephart’s lowest round is a 41 for a 9 hole match making her the number one golfer on the team.


     Mina will be playing in the districts 18 hole tournament on Tuesday October 9th 2018 at legends of Massillon golf course. If she does good in districts and wins she will then go on to play in the state tournament. Gephart does not plan on going to college for golf she plans on joining the Air-force after her high school career.
