New Beginnings

By: Jordan Pasalaqua

The 2019 Girls Softball team will have a whole new lineup this year because there will only be seven varsity returners. Last year we graduated 5 seniors that were all starters for the Lady Blue Streaks. Head Coach Art Rose picked up five new players to complete his new team. He picked up junior Sarah Stenger and Tehya Reed, Sophomores Alyssa Lavdis and Chloe Wakim and finally Freshman Karla White.

The team seems to be really strong this year but they still have a lot of things to work together on as a whole. The girls are already in week 3 of the season and they will be traveling to Youngstown next weekend on Saturday March 16th possibly playing in two scrimmages. They will be playing Magnificat for their first game and then they will possibly be playing Champion or Canfield as their second game.

On March 23rd the girls will be traveling to Goodpasture Stadium to play two games against Hoover High School, the girls did lose to them two years ago in the regionals game but defeated them in last years scrimmages.

Coach Art Rose has a very strong batting lineup this year with many power hitters to get runs across the board. Right now he is working on who he wants to put on the field because he has many girls who can play multiple positions. The girls have been working a lot with foot work at practices so they can be quicker getting to the ball and turning double plays. Art has very high expectations for the team this year and is ready for the games.
