On Wednesday April 3rd the jv lady streaks took the field away at Mayfield. The team was leaded by pitcher Kelsie McCandless with a numerous amount of strikeouts. The teams bats were swinging with almost every player on the team having a hit. The Lady Streaks had many stolen bases and a few close calls at home plate but sliding into victory.
Although the team made some mistakes in the field, they bounced back with their power to hit and gained the lead back. The game was close throughout the game it was a true battle both teams had good pitching and good hitting.
The Streaks also had lots of good communication going on in the field. All the girls were yelling where the play was and cheering loudly when someone made a play, had a hit, or when Kelsie stroked out yet another batter.
“I’m very proud of the effort and the determination the girls had through the game, if they made a bad play they would shake it off and focus on the next one which really gave us the overall power to beat Mayfield. The overall team effort and how the girls picked one another up when one was down showed just how close this team is,” said Coach Eric Cottrell.
The team defeated Mayfield by a score of 16-13 with an amazing effort from each and every one of the teammates. The Lady Streaks faced the Kenston bombers away at Kenston on Friday April 5th and are looking forward to the upcoming competition.
