Meeting Goals

By: Jillian Jeschenig

The 2019 Lift-A-Thon took place on March 15th, and the event was a huge success. As a whole, the football team raised a total of $7,234 for the program. There was a total of 25 juniors that participated in the event this year and eight of those juniors made it onto the board this year for their last Lift-A-Thon.

For bench, two guys made it to the board. Aidan Thompson made it onto the 10th spot for power at 305lbs and Alex Blackie made it onto the 7th spot for speed at 305lbs. For squat, four guys made it to the board. Aidan Thompson made it into the 2nd place spot with an impressive 495lbs for power, and for speed Jacob Land got the 4th spot with 425lbs, Jake Fisher got the 7th spot with 415lbs, and Mike Colaneri got the 9th spot with 405lbs. And finally, two guys made it onto the speed clean board. Alex Blackie made it to the 6th spot with 285lbs and Jacob Land made it to the 9th spot with 275lbs.

All the participants did very well and tried their best. Of the nine teams that competed, Team 4, which consisted of captain Aidan Thompson, Cole Tanner, Austin McCourt, Danny Alley, Treven Floran, and Jordan Watt came out on top with the most combined weight overall. Mrs. Craigo did a great job DJing the event this year as well.

The money these boys raised will be used to help out the team to get ready for next year’s football season. The weight room was packed full of people who were eager to watch and had a great time. All the boys are grateful for everyone that made donations or even continues to support them.
