Taking it to Nationals

By: Alyssa Knezevich

The Madison High School’s cheer competition has had a great season. The girls competed several times. In total the girls have won grand champions, best choreography, best jumps, and 2 place. The team have had the most girls on the squad than they ever had before. They said it was very different but also nice too since they all bonded together and all felt very close.

The team has practiced every week, improving their weaknesses and increasing their strengths. All of the girls have an amazing experience competing and it has been a huge part of their high school career.

One of the girls said, “I love everything about cheerleading. Yes there are hard times, but you create these bonds with each other that is like nothing else. I’ve definitely made new friends this year who I’m very close with now.” Many of the teammates relate to this and will continue to cheer for the rest of their high school career.

The last competition will be nationals. This is the biggest competition of the year and the girls were very nervous, but also wanted to end this season with a grand champion win! Some of the things the girls needed to nail down is their jumps, their facials, strictness, and being peppy. It was also Amber Ferra’s last competition since she is a senior. This made the girls really want to win nationals so Amber can finish off her season with a win. This competition was challenging, but the girls were ready!
