Lady Blue Streaks Outlast the Rangers

Last Wednesday, April 3rd, the Girls Track and Field team hosted their first home dual meet of the 2019 season. The Lady Blue Streaks faced off against the Eastlake North Lady Rangers and beat them by a score of 85 to 53. The Lady Streaks had a total of 11 first place finishes throughout all the events on the track and in the field.

On the track, the Lady Streaks claimed 8 of the 11 first place finishes. Senior Abby Piert showed off her speed with a first place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.02 seconds and sophomore Lexi Fleischer followed behind her in second place with a time of 13.62 seconds. Abby Piert continued to race past everyone and also finished first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.27 seconds.
Senior Julia Sansalone led the pack in the 1600 meter run and was the first Lady Blue Streak to cross the finish line with a time of 6:13, beating a Lady Ranger who was hot on her tail by 6 seconds.

The Lady Blue Streaks showcased their speed in the 400 meter dash by claiming 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes. Freshman Emma Lewis was the first girl to cross the finish line with a time of 1:09, followed by Brooke Butler who finished with a time of 1:10, and Jordan Yates who finished with a time of 1:12.

Sophomore Autumn Warren placed 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.14 seconds but redeemed herself in her next race by finishing strong and placing first in the 300 meter hurdles.

For the field events, they claimed the last three of the 1st place finishes and showed that the wind was not going to stop them from dominating. Junior Delaney Horton jumped far and took first place with a jump of 13ft 1in. Freshman Riley Elliot took flight in high jump and out-jumped the Lady Rangers with a first place finish and cleared height of 4ft 6in.

Freshman Maddy Moretti showed out in the shot put ring with impressive throws that proved to be enough to beat the Lady Rangers with a first place throw of 30 ft 3in.
