Coach's View on Tomorrow's Game

BY: Seirra Craddock

Your girls varsity golf team has a conference match, in fact this is a WRC/Neoggca Tournament at Erie Shores Golf Course starting 9:00 am on Wednesday September 20th. Speaking to Coach Titman about the match history with the tournament, “Our highest place in the tournament was third place.”  He is hoping that they place in first this year. Why is this game so important you might wonder? Coach smiles slightly and says, “If we win the conferences, sectionals are next week, this gives the girls more opportunity to play well beforehand”. He also was talking about some keys to victory such as, “playing around the greens, which is a very big key to successes. Also watch where we chip and putt is another factor.” Everyone expects to win, but Titman has his reasons why he expects to win. “ If we win, this means that we will have beaten two teams who have a victory over us during this season. Winning this will mean we will have defeated everyone we have faced at least once this season.” Team Leaders are a huge part of the team as well, those team leaders include Kalee Kless and Emileigh Kleps. Kalee’s stats average a 51, and Emileigh’s stats average 46. Titman says Kalee brings “Maturity to the game as well as understanding how to work the golf course. Emileigh for this game needs to have a very good score, if she has a great score then we would have a chance of winning the conference tomorrow”. Speaking with one of the varsity players, Mina Gephart implied that this is a very big match for the girls and she is hoping that everyone is prepared to play. Good luck girls!
