For the girls golf snapshot I talked to Mina Gephart, a junior who is on the varsity golf team. I chose Mina because she is a hard worker and a focused player. She spends all of her time practicing, playing, or working.
Mina started playing golf her freshman year because she wanted to play a sport she would be able to make varsity in and her brother told her she would make varsity just by playing. She enjoys playing golf because she gets to meet the new people from the other team, and she gets to get together with her friends to play a sport that she loves.
Mina has accomplished a lot in the last 3 years of playing. She’s received many plaques and she came in second in the annual NEO tournament. She said she stands out from the rest of the team because she dresses in the appropriate golf attire and the rest of the team does not.
Mina has many goals for her high school and golf careers. For golf Mina wants to break 40’s, perfect a brand new shot or more, and have 2 pars per 18 holes. As for school Mina would like to graduate, and pass all her classes. She would also like to gain a scholarship from playing golf.
Mina said her high school experience has been pretty good for the most part. She said one of her most memorable moments was chipping a ball in from 110 yards out. She said her best memories are the assemblies, and golf matches.
In the future Mina would like to go to college, hopefully with a scholarship and play golf with her college team. After college Mina would like to continue playing golf and be a teacher as well.
Mina’s favorite movie is The fast and the Furious, and her favorite song is Body Like A Back Road by Sam Smith. She enjoys Biology 2 with Mr. Eckstein more than any other class. Her favorite sport is golf, and her favorite sports team is The Cleveland Cavaliers.
